Chunichi Dragons Doala

Doala (ドアラ) is a koala mascot for the Chunichi Dragons. He was created in 1994, replacing Gaburi, and is one of the main mascots of the team along with Shaolon and Paolon. He is quite well known for his acrobatics. In 2009, he was the focus of a Wii game aimed for children, named Doala de Wii. It is said to be concidered good luck if Doala lands his stunts. [1] The reason why he is a koala is because a koala is concidered sacred in Nagoya as due to its sister city status with Sydney, in 1984, Japan's first koala was sent to the Nagoya Zoo, 10 years before Doala became mascot. In 2013, Doala injured his left middle finger during training, and was not able to do backflips for almost a whole month. During that time span, he rode around in a 3-wheeled bicycle. His jersey number is 1994, the year he was inaugurated. He also is friends with Tokyo Yakult Swallows mascot Tsubakuro.
